Cinematography - The most complex and fascinating art in the world. Movies can take us to another world, change our opinions on the most serious topics or simply be the most entertaining thing ever. Whole generations are associated with classics like Clueless and The Godfather. Just think about the amount of time we spent on movies and TV shows - Weeks, months, years? And yet it's fully worth it. There are so many movies which influenced me growing up. I remember how Woody Allen's Match Point made me fall in love with Italian opera (and Matthew Goode obviously), while Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby made me officially proclaim DiCaprio one of the greatest actors of all time. What made this movie so breathtaking? The 100$ Bill?
The Great Gatsby features the most brilliant soundtrack of the century. The music feels so incredibly alive and inspiring. Contemporary artists managed to create a timeless effect using modern electronic beats and classic 1920s elements. Collaborating with Jay-Z for an adaptation of a Fitzgerald is probably the most genius concept ever. This was pure perfection, Baz Luhrmann made history. Hip Hop never was so rich and diverse - Rap is poetry and Jay-Z is the Shakespeare.
Are movies the greatest art of mankind? They combine fashion, music, architecture, life style and legendary performances. When it comes to genre and preferences, my taste couldn't be more diverse. What do you guys prefer? What are you super excited for this season? Let's be honest, we are all waiting for one special release... Fifty Shades of Grey
When? February 13, 2015
What? This century's most outrageous and controversial book is finally hitting the big screen. We've fantasised about this twisted romance for years now. E. L. James embodied the 21st century's dark twisted fantasy on over 500 pages. The magic of a book relies on the fact that there are no boundaries to our imagination. T. S. Eliot taught us that the novel doesn't exist without the reader. Thanks to those millions of readers Fifty Shades of Grey nowbecame visual and we just can't wait for it. The movie was directed by art enthusiast and filmmaker Sam Taylor-Wood.
Why? Because Beyoncé's Haunted made this trailer an art piece, it's a match made in heaven. Bow Down! There is no better song for this plotline. Bey's powerful voice, the addictive beat, the multiperspectivity, the sensuality - Haunted is one of the best songs she's ever done.
The first trailer already featured a remix of the power couple's anthem Crazy in Love. Beyoncé collaborated with Boots, who is famous for co-writing and producing many songs from her incredibly successful self-titled album. Bey, you really are the one and only reigning queen! And as we all know, there is no classic without the epic soundtrack. The trailer gave me a Gatsby like déjà vu. What about the actors? Ian Somerhalder, Henry Cavill, Joseph Morgan - every hottie was considered to play the mysterious protagonist, but there is only one Christian. Honestly, I was not quite sure whether Jamie Dornan was the very best choice. But after those previews ... guess he probably really is. There is just something about him, he definitely has the Grey essence. On the other hand, Dakota Johnson is doubtlessly perfect, she's the innocent flower this recipe required so badly. Agent Provocateur (hopefully), modern luxury, private planes, designer suits, Beyoncé - everything indicates a highly tasteful and aesthetic film.
Stay tuned for Valentine's Day 2015 Ladies and Gentlemen. Is this movie going to change the image of VDay forever? I know if I'm haunting you, you must be haunting me ;)
Have a great weekend guys
xx
