90s SUPERMODELS

Models. Models are as much a part of the industry as Dolce is a part of Gabbana. These days plenty of girls from all over  the world stick to the dream of capturing the fashion world like a Adriana, Natalia or Daria. Today the term model has a total different tone. Guess only every 40th pedestrian knows the name of the girl in the new YSL ad. Even this years Victoria's Secret Show turned out to be a "manage it to identify at least 10 models"- game. It seems like there are more models than politicians, more models than teachers and more models than engineers at the moment. How did this change came along? Does this fact tell us that there are more beautiful girls these days or that the branch modeling became less limited? Being honest, I can say one thing for sure: I love these supermodel girls. Because they are not afraid of public and most importantly not afraid of themselves. The girls who manage it to climb up to the supermodel throne are the fierce once, the strong once, the different ones. My fav' supermodels of the 21st century? Well definitely Daria Werbowy, Doutzen Kroes, Chanel Iman, Karlie Kloss and Natalia Vodianova. (they just came to my mind first) The reason for why I go for these girls? They remind me of the greatest era in the model industry.
... The 90's! These stunning goddesses like Claudia, Naomi, Linda, Carla or Nadja, were so much more than regular ad campaign girls. They were men's objects of desire & examples for female perfection. Those were real killer bodies! Fit, curvy, thin but yet feminine. They loved to dress up expensive, party hard and date the most desired men in the world. Now they are mothers, billionaires, business women and wives of Presidents, movie- and rock stars. My mother always used to keep her favourite Vogue issues, the ones with the most beautiful covers in order to decorate the apartment by putting them on her desk or arranging them on the floor. When I was a little girl with short hair (I used to have the Suri Cruise haircut ;) ) and big dreams, I spend hours staring at these girls. To me they just looked like pure royalty. Getting older, I started buying old Vogues, Elles and other high fashion magazines from the late 80's/90's on flea markets. No fashion lover should ever forget the beauty and magic of this decade.
I guess the most impressive thing about it, is that they made themselves immortal. Living forever is one of the greatest dreams of human existence. All of these great creators of arts and science, managed to figure out the secret of an eternal life. Michael Jackson is not alive anymore. But every time someone plays his songs, he's miraculously  coming back to life.
So guys never forget the achievements of fashion and arts from previous decades. Let's pay tribute to them. ;)
Enjoy this sunny day dolls xx
